  • History of the Bayline

The Bayline Region consists of small towns that are located along the rail line from The Pas to Churchill. Spanning the entire width of Northern Manitoba, these communities are predominantly small industry based towns, usually relying on logging, fishing or trapping. Many of these communities do not have year round roads and are only accessible by train and plane year round.

Culturally, these communities are a mix of aboriginal, Metis and  European cultures. Included in the communities that are participating in the Bayline Regional Round Table is War Lake First Nation. Along with its sister community, Ilford, War Lake is the Northeastern most community currently involved in the Bayline region.

These communities have joined together in order to address many similar concerns and challenges. The issues to be addressed include health services, youth, all-weather roads, tourism and Information and Communication Technology for starters.
